| Use of Green Dot MoneyPaks, Vanilla Reloads on the rise |
 Over the years, wire transfer has been the method of choice for fraudsters looking to get paid by their victims. Recently, however, there has been an uptick in consumer complaints to Fraud.org reporting that scammers are requesting the use of Green Dot MoneyPaks or Vanilla Reloads. These payment methods mean untraceable cash for fraudsters.
One victim -- we'll call him "Chris" -- recently shared his story with us:
"The man called my place of business to say that my previous payment on my bill didn't go through and that my business's electricity would be shut off that day. ... He requested that we pay by Green Dot MoneyPaks. He even called me back to make sure I was going to pay it. He said I would get a call in 30 minutes from [the] reimbursement center for the card fees. I then realized that this was a scam and it was too late."

Still Struggling: Key Jobs Rate Stuck in 1978
The public continues to perceive the economy as poor despite apparently robust job growth. The labor market remains weak, with a labor force participation rate stuck at 62.8 percent, the lowest since 1978. Even President Barack Obama noted a dampening caveat as he drew attention to the 288,000 jobs created in June, to the lower 6.1 percent unemployment rate and to the fastest job growth since 1999.
