 Over the years, wire transfer has been the method of choice for fraudsters looking to get paid by their victims. Recently, however, there has been an uptick in consumer complaints to Fraud.org reporting that scammers are requesting the use of Green Dot MoneyPaks or Vanilla Reloads. These payment methods mean untraceable cash for fraudsters.
One victim -- we'll call him "Chris" -- recently shared his story with us:
"The man called my place of business to say that my previous payment on my bill didn't go through and that my business's electricity would be shut off that day. ... He requested that we pay by Green Dot MoneyPaks. He even called me back to make sure I was going to pay it. He said I would get a call in 30 minutes from [the] reimbursement center for the card fees. I then realized that this was a scam and it was too late."

OECD Slashes Global Economic Growth Forecast as Risks Build
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development trimmed its growth forecasts for the biggest developed economies in the face of increasing geopolitical risks and subdued European inflation. “The bullishness of financial markets appears at odds with the intensification of several significant risks,” the organization said. “Continued slow growth is the most worrying feature of the projections.”

TOKYO, - Japanese share prices rose for the fifth straight session on Friday to end at an eight-month high, with exporters leading the gains on the yen's weakness. Japan's Nikkei share average rose 0.3 percent to 15,948.29 points, its highest close since Jan. 8. For the week, it gained 1.8 percent, outperforming most other share markets. The broader Topix gained 0.2 percent to a six-year closing high, while the new JPX-Nikkei Index 400 rose 0.2 percent.
